Coaching for Teens

Parents want their teenagers to happily and confidently make responsible choices - to own their personal health, practice good hygiene, develop healthy relationships, keep up on their chores, build competency with money, and enthusiastically tackle schooling and extracurricular activities. Often those hopes and dreams are met with teenage rebellion and family division as teenagers (and parents) face another consequence and another lecture about what they should be doing. It can become a vicious cycle.

Coaching For Teens

Teenagers have a natural desire to take charge of their lives - building confidence, expanding their social circles, trying new things, chasing their dreams, and learning to successfully communicate with the adults in their lives …as adults.  Many those same teenagers have no idea how to accomplish such monumental feats.

As a life coach for teens, I listen to what your 12-18 year old wants out of life, where they are most powerful, and where they are struggling. Working together, we will make a plan to conquer the pressures they are facing and feeling as they build self confidence, self trust, and awareness of who they are and what they want. They will learn skills and strategies necessary to set and reach their goals. Your teenager will work on building the strong foundation life requires as they move toward adulthood and become young adults.

What to Expect

Parents often say that their teenager has become happier and more motivated. Teens often report feeling competent and confident in achieving their goals. Both groups note a vast improvement in their communication with each other.

Coaching occurs in 50-minute sessions. The process is completed in-person or remotely - via a video conference platform. The latter can be accessed wherever you are, without ever leaving home. The days, times, and frequency of coaching are flexible and determined based on what works best for you and your teen. To ensure the best possible outcomes, I suggest starting with a 6-session package, but do not require it.

This is not therapy.

Therapy involves the processing of events and trauma in a client’s history with a goal to heal from that trauma, find some relief, or “closure.” Often therapy involves clinical diagnosis and treatment plans. It can last several weeks or many years.
